With Room 5, we are learning to draw what we can see. We used our noticing eyes and art detective minds to look carefully at the shape and size of pieces of fruit and a ceramic fruit bowl. We drew, then painted, then added details with pastels.

Raupo Sunflowers
Inspired by the gorgeous sunflowers around our school, the Room 6 children created their own flowers with collage.
We used torn paper, cut paper and buttons to make these 3d stunners.
Year 2 and 3 Abstract Art
A colour explosion! We are learning about Wassily Kandinsky who was one of the founders of Abstract art.
Art doesn't always need to 'look like something'. It can be about letting our imaginations go crazy and filling the space with lines and colours.
We are learning to mix control and 'random'. We have drawn lines, filled the spaces with controlled colour, and topped it all off with splatters and stamps with toothbrushes and forks!
New Entrants Kandinsky Art
Our newest KNS kids are brilliant artists!
We are learning to control our paintbrushes and fill a whole space with colour.
We worked together to create Kandinsky inspired abstract art. It is bold, bright, and beautiful!
Akeake artspace- Circle art
To build a sense of collaboration, mindfulness and shared ownership, our Year 3 and 4 artists worked in groups to create circle art. This followed the tragic events in Christchurch in March. With a bit of music in the background, this activity gave us all time to stop, breathe, reconnect with each other.
Totara-Expressionism.
Our senior learners have explored the purpose of Expressionist art. We used drawing skills and our knowledge of color blending and perspective to create a parody of Edvard Munch's iconic work, The Scream.
