2018 Maui and the Sun Production

Production backdrop

Taniwha

It has been exciting to work alongside Madisyn Jo, Olly and Seth to design two Taniwha to represent Kaiapoi North School. Each Wednesday this term, the group has brainstormed and discussed the best way to showcase the Taniwha and have them link with KNS school values. The learners have been incredibly creative. They have also pushed themselves out of their comfort zone to consult with Ngai Tahu officials, and present their design process to KNS management.

Autumn Art

Leaves, leaves and more leaves.
Akeake's year 2 and 3 children traced leaves onto transparency sheets and coloured them with vivids. They outlined their leaves with black PVA. Displayed on the windows, our leaves have made rainbows on the carpet whenever the sun shines on them.

Our Raupo and Akeake children made Autumn trees by stamping paint onto tree silhouettes. They used fingers, wheels, lego blocks and cotton buds to make leaves with paint.

Hinau Let It Snow!!

We drew cartoon faces in pencil and coloured them with wax crayons and vivid outlines. Blue dye backgrounds reveal happy white snowflakes! (The closest we are getting to snow this year. Waaah)

Akeake West Inquiry Art

We have been looking at objects from the Past in our Inquiry Learning.
We used some of these objects as the subjects of still life drawing. We learnt about complementary colours and pastelling techniques.

Kaiapoi Art Show July 2019

Art was selected from classes across KNS to be displayed in Kaiapoi's annual Art Expo. Artists were from Yr1 to Yr8.

Wearable Arts!

Wow what an exciting event!
We had a great time designing and creating our costumes for  our KNS Wearable Arts event. The Senior students had the opportunity to strut their stuff at the 2019 Cultural Festival at Horncastle Arena.

Hinau Clay modelling continues...

Watch this space! We will be using our plasticine modelled characters to make stop motion movies!

Hinau Clay Modelling

In Hinau, we have used white modelling clay to represent different cultural symbols of the world.  They are painted in acrylic and they are displayed on hessian and card.

Raupo Painting Spring is springing

Our smallest learners are getting excited about Spring. We are learning how to make different painting effects with different tools. We used pinecones, lego, blocks and sticks.
